Food Truck Friday!
One of the most common questions I get about my involvement in the food truck community is how I got into it.
In 2022, I started teaching at Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) North Campus. If you aren't familiar, it is in Castle Hayne and it is a food desert. At the time, you couldn't even purchase a cup of coffee on campus or within walking distance! I just knew food trucks would knock it out of the park out there because it would be the only option for food and drinks.
So I found out CFCC's requirements for food trucks parking on campus and went about trying to reach out to them. But there was no food truck group for the Wilmington area! I could reach out to each one individually, but that would be time consuming. So I created "Wilmington, NC Food Trucks" group on Facebook and it has turned into an amazing group!
Our group is a place for food trucks to post their menus and schedules, and to find venues and other people that need a food truck. It is a place that venues can find food trucks for their events and to feed their crowd without having to worry about Health Department regulations. We've got bars, breweries, businesses, governments, schools, etc. that find their food trucks in our group. And also, maybe most importantly, the public (customers!!) can look in the group to find out where food trucks will be for some yummy food.
Since 2022, it has grown to almost TWENTY THOUSAND members and an amazing community. I've been helping in the background by answering questions, approving posts, keeping out spam, and resolving a dispute or two.
Now I want to know what kind of content you want to see about Food Trucks. Send me your ideas and thoughts!
